From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 4, 2021, at 1200 MDT, a CCX-2300 carbon cub, N24PK, privacy data omitted had the right wing impact the ground during landing rollout in a ground loop event at Taos Regional Airport in VMC. The commercial pilot and his passenger did not sustain any injuries. The type of operation for this flight was personal, originating at Santa fe municipal airport at 1000 the same day. No flight plan was filed for this flight.

Investigation revealed that there were no mechanical discrepancies with the aircraft which contributed to this accident. During the interview, the pilot reported the wind as 240 degrees at 5 knots during his landing on runway 22 at Taos Regional Airport. The pilot admitted that after the landing touchdown in mild wind conditions, that he got complacent and allowed his attention to be divided by looking for the flap lever while still in the landing rollout. It is the iic?s opinion that his complacency was the root cause for this accident which resulted in the aircraft sustaining substantial damage.

The pilot was counseled concerning complacency after landing touchdown and maintaining aircraft control all the way to engine shutdown in parking. Details of this counseling can be found in safety assurance system task T-SW01-FY22-0123.
