What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The airman was conducting phase I flights on an experimental aircraft he had recently built. After the 4th touch and go, he attempted to exit the runway onto an adjacent taxiway. While applying breaks, the aircraft turned 90 degrees to the left, went through a barbed wire fence, and came to rest nose down. The airman was un-injured.
Upon further inspection by a brake specialist, it was found that the right caliper mounting bolts had not been properly torqued. This caused the right brake to fail when pressure was applied.
