From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 13, 2021 at approximately 1049 local (1549Z) the pilot of a two seat max air drifter ultralight aircraft crashed in a field adjacent to the Sebring international speedway in Sebring, Florida.

Video of the event shows that the pilot was flying close to the ground. The pilot stated that when it appeared to him that there were obstacles (including people) infront of him along his flight path he initiated, as shown on the video, a go-around like manuever with a left turn.

The pilot stated he added a lot of power causing the aircraft pitch up suddenly. The pilot did not correct for the yaw and sudden pitch changes which put the aircraft into a stall/spin close to the ground.

The aircraft impacted the ground in a left wing low/nose low condition.

The pilot was in the front seat (tandom seating). The pilot stated that upon impact with the ground he was thrown forward out of the aircraft causing him a serious injury to his arm.

Being an aircraft with two seats and 2 5 gallon fuel tanks it should have had a regitration number according to 14 CFR part 103. Therefore the pilot should have been certificated but was not and had no formaltraining before this flight.

The primary cause of the accident is a pilot induced error that caused a stall/spin accident.

As the FAA filed it
