From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Original tricycle geared aircraft has been altered/converted to conventional gear. Pilot in command (PIC) departed Thomas Creek (2U8) runway 03 to the north/northeast. Pilot stated he encountered a tailwind gust and that the aircraft would not climb as expected and settled toward the ground requiring a "forced landing" to the north of the runway on a flat spot (river bar) across the river. Both main landing gear legs and the tailwheel spring were torn from the aircraft during impact. Substantial damage to the lower cowling and firewall areas, left wing from wing strut outboard and right wing tip. PIC and single passenger suffered minor injury.
