From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

A student pilot was completing solo full stop takeoffs and landings at pwk. After takeoff the pilot reported that the tower informed him of the gust had increased to 18 knots out of the southwest. The pilot then decided to make this their last landing for the day as the winds were above the pilot?s personal maximums. The pilot reported that their focus was on the wind sock and landed hard on runway 16 and bounced. The pilot reported feeling like on the bounce that the aircraft was nose low on contact and the pilot elected not to add power for fear that the nose would be driven faster into the runway surface. The pilot did not initiate a go-around after the first bounce, and struck the surface harder the second and third time. After the second bounce the aircraft veered off the runway in a lateral runway excursion. The spinner impacted the runway distance remaining sign, and the left main gear struck the PAPI before the aircraft came to a stop in the grass.
