From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omitted (N585CK) departed ksus as a part 91 positioning flight on an IFR flight plan. It leveled off at 8000' on a westerly heading. Shortly after level off it began a left descending turn. The controller queried about the incorrect altitude and direction of flight. A radio transmission was made by the male pilot indicating some confusion that was jumbled and no distress call occurred. The last adsb data occurred at 4700' while the airplane was rapidly descending. The airplane continued a descending spiral with increasing speed until impact on a westerly heading with forested terrain. Broken tree limbs indicated the airplane was in a steep descent at impact and the debris path was approximately 320 yards long. Both pilots were fatally injured.
