From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N8056L departed RY12 and cleared for a right downwind departure. On climb out, pilot declared may day with intent to land the aircraft on the adjacent railroad tracks. Aircraft came to rest on the railroad tracks, near the intersection of san fernando rd and osborne st.

The pilot was injured and extracted from aircraft by first responders. Moments later, a passing train made impact with aircraft, which was consequently destroyed.

A subsequent tear-down inspection of the airframe/engine determined there was a foreign substance WITHIN THE FUEL GASCOLATOR AND CARBURETOR FLOAT BOWL consisting of rust particles. These findings are consistant with water contaminination within the fuel system.
