From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

-9 Report stated that the aircraft landed at about the 500 foot mark. Aircraft veered left and departed the runway at approximately the 1500 foot mark.

Pilot injuries; lacerations to fore head, abrasions to left forearm. According to the pilot these injuries resulted from hitting the sunscreen shades.

Visual inspection of runway showed no skid marks or debris. Other aircraft had been landing on the runway after the event which partially obscured tracks left by N3735B. Photo provided by airport personnel showed tracks on the runway veering off to the left.

Visual inspection of tracks in the grass, shows that the aircraft departed the runway at approximately a 45 degree angle. About 30 feet into the grass, the aircraft made a left turn to approximately 80 degrees away from the runway. It continued down an embankment into a runoff reservoir. Emergency vehicle tracks partially obscured the aircraft tracks.

Aircraft final position, +033.181459 / -096.587259 // 33°10?53.3?n / 96°35?14.1?w

Aircraft stopped approximately 330 feet east of runway 18 and approximately 32 feet lower than the runway elevation.

Approximately 63 feet west of the aircraft, indications are that the nose gear hit a depression and collapsed, shearing off the nose landing gear door. Propeller strikes indicate that the engine was producing power at this point.

Approximately 20 feet west of the aircraft, indications are that the propeller and engine hit the ground. The nose landing gear oleo and wheel assembly was laying at this position. From this position, the aircraft appears to have spun clockwise coming to rest facing approximately 175 degrees.

The engine, propeller, and associated components were laying in front of the aircraft. They were twisted to the right up against the right wing. There was damage to the right wing, apparently from the impact of the engine into the wing.

The lower firewall was shoved backward into the cabin approximately 5 inches.

The lower fuselage, just forward of the fuel strainer drain panel, showed compression damage from the impact.

Other than the right wing impact damage from the engine, the wings did not indicate any damage. The control surfaces moved freely.

The left wheel and tire assembly moved by hand. This indicates that the left brake was not locked. Did not move the wheel very much due to the nose of the aircraft resting on the engine. The left tire appeared to be fully inflated. Visual indications on the tire indicted that it had slid laterally on the grass but did not indicate that it had slid on the runway.

The horizontal stabilizers showed no damage. The horizontal control surfaces moved freely to the left. Moving to the right they would not go much past neutral.

Inside the cockpit, the air conditioner duct, under the throttle and propeller controls, were shoved backwards by approximately 5 inches. The instrument glare shield was separated from the instrument panel. All switches were off. Flap switch was in ?approach? Position. Throttle and propeller controls were full aft. Yoke controls moved left and right with no movement from the ailerons. Yoke would not move forward or aft. Yaw pedals would not move and the brake pedals would not move.

Maintenance records show an annual inspection was completed on November 1, 2021. The maintenance records state that the wheel bearings and races were replaced during the inspection.

Inspection of the aircraft, at aircraft salvage of dallas, did not reveal any discrepancies with the wheel bearings or brakes. Could not check the brake activation due to damage to the aircraft. Could not check brake servicing due to the damage to the aircraft.

Run out on the brake disc was minimal. Both main landing gear wheels rotated freely without any rough spots or lateral movement. Torque on the brake caliper bolts was within limits.

As the FAA filed it
