From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 2/9/2022, the PIC of N64741 departed harford county airfield (0W3) enroute to Shoestring airport (0P2) on a VFR flight. On arrival to 0P2, the PIC elected to make his approach downwind to the strip heading 060 into the airfield. The pilot made this determination due to tall trees on the approach end of landing direction 240.

As the pilot was approaching the airfield, he stated the aircraft descent rate was increasing. The pilot stated he pulled collective but was unable to arrest the descent.

The aircraft impacted the ground and rolled onto its right side causing substantial damage.

The pilot was able to egress the aircraft under his own power. The pilot sustained minor injuries.
