From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft: N6012J s/n M-2100

When: 2/27/2022 2050Z,

Where: quad cities international airport (mli)

Weather conditions:

Injuries: none

Damage from event: minor aircraft damage. Propeller, right hand wing leading edge about 4 foot from wing root is dented about 2 inches deep and about 8 inches long. Airport facility damage included safety poles at fueling facility and jet a fuel cabinet.

Post event fire or damage: none

Flight control continuity check: normal

A private pilot was taxiing to the fuel pump at kmli (quad cities international airport) following a flight in the local area. The pilot followed taxi lines, while taxiing at a safe speed, to the fuel cabinets and lost control of the aircraft when he attempted to turn right in order to position the fuel cabinets to the left of the aircraft. When the pilot stepped on the right brake pedal, the pedal went to the floor and the plane did not respond as expected. As a result, the aircraft continued forward, and the left wing struck the 100LL cabinet and the propeller struck the jet a cabinet.

Prior to the flight, the pilot conducted a pre-flight inspection with no brake fluid observed on the ground. Brakes functioned normally during the pre-taxi brake check and throughout the flight, which included landings and taxi. All other equipment functioned normally. A post-flight inspection duplicated the brake issue. The right brake pedal was depressed and went down to the floor with no resistance.

A POST-FLIGHT INSPECTION DUPLICATED THE BRAKE ISSUE. THE RIGHT BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE.
