From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 7 mar, 2022, at Bellingham international airport (kbli), N36251, Bellanca s/n: 274-73 was parked between the end of two hangar rows at waypoint avionics (4WPR) while avionics work was being accomplished. After work was completed, N36251 was preparing to depart by taxiing west to turn right between the hangar rows to head north. Pilot-in-command (PIC) reported that as he applied the right brake, it faded and the aircraft was not able to turn sharp enough to go north between the hangar rows. The left wingtip contacted a hangar door swinging N36251 into the hangar. PIC reported he pulled the mixture to kill the engine. The propeller continued to spin as the spinner hit the hangar door. The prop spinner punctured the hangar door. The propeller also punctured the hangar door to the lower left quadrant side of the spinner door damage; about 45 degrees of travel. N36251 sustained minor damage which consisted of: spinner damage, scratches to the propeller leading edges, and a left wingtip surface ding. This was a late report.
