From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed the north las vegas airport, Nevada (vgt) enroute to kingman, Arizona (igm). The aircraft lost power near Jean Nevada (OL7) and had a hard landing in a desert. The pilot, sole occupant, sustained serious injury and the aircraft damage was substaintial. No post crash fire occurred.

A flight from igm to vgt was conducted. In preparation for that flight the pilot added 3.8 gallons of fuel at igm. The aircraft was parked at vgt for a period of time. It was noted in the investigation the at the mixture control was separated from the cable prohibiting fuel cut off. The nature of the sever does not appear to have been caused by the accident sequence.

Post accident examination of the aircraft revealed the fuel system was absent of any usable fuel. Based on the information obtained, fuel exhaustion occurred near Jean Nevada.

Due to the pilot's injuries, he was not available for comment. This report will be amended as necessary when more informaiton is available.
