From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

An aircraft squawking 1200 was observed 5 NM southwest of pwm at 2,200 feet. Well inside the pwm class c airspace. The aircraft never established radio contact as required. The aircraft made what appeared to be a procedure turn back to the west for sfm airport and exited the pwm class c. the aircraft information was obtained with adsb information. At 2022Z the aircraft departed pwm airspace and I relayed information to A90 to track the flight. At 2044Z A90 called and said the aircraft appeared to be landing at lci airport.

Spoke with airman over the phone. The airman was performing practice approaches into ksfm airport and while utilizing the approach plate, lost situational awareness, not realizing the approach took him into kpwm airspace. Counseling was performed with the airman to emphasize using multiple tools to maintain situational awareness such as ground references, automation in foreflight and the garmin 430 onboard to a thorough preflight to ensure staying clear of airspace at all times. Also discussed benefits of utilizing ATC for traffic and boundary awareness.
