From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 3, 2022, at approximately 1940 local time, the pilot and sole occupant of privacy data omitted, an experimental amateur built airplane that crashed during a takeoff from runway 27 at Hagerstown regional airport (hgr) Hagerstown, MD.

The pilot stated that he was not sure why he lost control. He said that maybe he experienced a wind gust and probably made an over control correction causing the plane to stall right wing high and settling back to the runway.

At the time of takeoff the tower reported the wind at 330 degrees at 5 knots.

The aircraft experienced substantial damage. The wooden propeller struck the runway and was fragmented, the fuselage experienced some structural damage from the impact the left wing was damaged at the attach points when the wing strut collapsed from impact and the right main wheel had broken at the attach point from a side load after the aircraft spun to the right after it touched down.
