From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 06/04/2022 at approximately 1145 EDT, a Cessna 401A s/n 401A 0063 privacy data omitted experienced mechanical problems during landing at Home Acres Sky Ranch (Y91). The aircraft received minor damage and no injuries were reported.

The flight was being operated under visual meteorological conditions during the late morning flight on 06/04/2022. During a landing to the west on runway 27, the pilot stated, ?while making a full stop landing at Y91 on runway 27, the airplane touched down on the mains. The nose was let down and the aircraft continued rolling out normally for approximately 100 feet, than it started a hard left turn! I applied right rudder to correct, but it [the aircraft] continued to go left. I than applied brakes to slow the aircraft as it continued until it slid to a stop. I shut down the engines with the mixture controls, turned off the fuel selectors turned off the magnetos and master switches.? The aircraft veered to the south during the landing rollout and came to a stop prior to the tree line adjacent to runway 27. During the landing rollout the pilot stated they did not know whether the left main landing gear was down. They stated the left wing appeared to be sliding during the final moments of landing. Upon exiting the aircraft the pilot took pictures showing the left wing on the ground and both the nose and right main landing gear in the down position. The aircraft?s left wing was lifted allowing the left landing gear into the down position and a brace was installed on the left main landing gear. The aircraft was towed to the owner?s storage area located on Y91.

Damage to the aircraft is as follows: left engine propeller blades bent, probable internal damage to the engine from the propeller strike, left landing gear bellcrank assembly broke into two pieces, left inboard landing gear door dented, minor skin damage to left wing split flap, minor skin damage to the left wing aileron, left wing landing light minor damage, stabilizer left rib crack, and minor skin damage on the upper left side of the stabilizer adjacent to the cracked rib.

The component failure of the left landing gear bellcrank assembly during the landing sequence preceded the left landing gear collapse and subsequent damage.

As the FAA filed it

ON 06/04/2022 AT APPROXIMATELY 1145 EDT, A CESSNA 401A S/N 401A 0063 ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ EXPERIENCED MECHANICAL PROBLEMS DURING LANDING AT HOME ACRES SKY RANCH (Y91).
