From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 4, 2022, at 0930 MDT, a Globe GC-1B swift, single engine airplane, privacy data omitted, was on a local flight from a road near privacy data omitted, El Paso, Texas to El Paso international airport, El Paso, Texas under visual flight rules. When the PIC attempted to take off on a residential street the aircraft encountered a gust of wind, which caused the aircraft to lose control and struck a block wall and fence. No flight plan was filed. The aircraft was substantially damaged and the canadian private pilot sustained serious injuries. The flight originated at El Paso, Texas, on June 4, 2022, at 0930 MDT.

In the investigating inspector?s opinion, the private pilot failed to conduct adequate planning which contributed to the accident. His aeronautical decision-making failed to mitigate the hazard that was encountered with making an off airport takeoff with a quarterly tailwind.
