From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The PIC indicated that the intent of the flight on June 7, 2022 was to fly his newly purchased aircraft for the first time. The PIC had recently bought the aircraft and brought it to Milwaukee on a truck.

The PIC indicated that he performed some taxi testing on the airport ramp area. The PIC then requested the grass runway (15R) for takeoff. Due to the grass runway being closed, the PIC elected to utilize runway 15L which is paved.

The PIC indicated the aircraft flew well during a flight in the traffic pattern. When he was on short final he noticed that he was too low on the approach and elected to go around. There were no issues with the go-around and the second flight in the traffic pattern. While on final approach the second time, the PIC elected to perform a slip in order to loose altitude. The PIC was targeting his landing spot at the runway numbers. The pilot indicated that the aircraft ?fell out of the air? Suddenly as he was in the round out and flair.

The PIC believes that the aircraft impacted the runway threshold lights at approximately the same time as the aircraft touched down. The PIC indicated that he had correction for a crosswind from the left when he touched down. He indicated that the aircraft touched down on the main wheels first, verses a three ? Point landing. This aircraft has conventional gear.

The PIC stated that he then continued the roll out and contacted the tower to tell them that he had hit the runway lights. The pilot then returned to his hangar and put N199DC away.

The PIC indicated that there was shifting winds on the day of the flight that may have contributed to the occurrence.

As the FAA filed it
