From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Departed biddeford municipal airport (B19) on the second flight of the day. VFR conditions prevaled. After takeoff the landing gear handle was positioned in the gear up position. With the landing gear handle in the up position the aircraft electrical system failed causing complete loss of electrical power with no change to engine operation. The pilot continued the climb out to troubleshoot the electrical issue. Approximately 10 minutes into the flight the landing gear handle was poistion to the gear down position. At this time, the electrical system came back online and electrical power was established. After approximately 15 minutes flying in the gear down configuration and all system operational, the landing landing gear handle was positioned to the gear up position. The results were the landing gear retracting and electrical system operating normally so the flight continued to Beverly Regional Airport (bvy) with no issues. Approximately 6 miles from bvy the landing gear handle was positioned to the gear down position to configure the aircraft for landing, as the gear handle was moved to the gear down position the electrical system failed again causing loss of all electrical power. There was another aircraft in the traffic pattern at bvy performing touch and go operations which allowed the airport lighting to illuminate. The pilot continued to attempt to land the aircraft at bvy while the airport lighting was illuminated assuming the gear was in the down and locked position. The aircraft made contact with the runway 16 surface and veered off the runway surface coming to rest to the right side of the runway surface in the grass area. The aircraft lower fuselage surface suffered minor damage and the propeller struck the runway surface causing damage to the propeller.

As the FAA filed it
