From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 07/03/2022 at approximately 1548UTC, (0748PDT),privacy data omitted, a 1996 Extra Flugzeugbau Gmbh ea 300/L, privacy data omitted fixed wing single engine aircraft impacted remote desert terrain approximately 5.7 miles southwest of the Boulder City airport (bvu), near Boulder City, Nevada. The aircraft was completely destroyed by impact damage and a post-crash fire.

The aircraft reportedly departed from the henderson airport in henderson, Nevada on a CFR part 91 flight, under visual meteorological conditions.

Initial indications at the crash site would support that the aircraft was in a stall/spin attitude at the time of impact.

The aircraft appeared to have been maneuvering in an area approximately 2.5 miles from the dry lake bed and was upslope from the dry lake bed, near a mountainous ridgeline and impacted the desert terrain near where the steep mountainous terrain begins.

Per the video obtained of the last maneuver that the pilot performed, it appears the aircraft attempted a aerobatic maneuver, stalled and never recovered.
