From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed loup city NE in route to crete NE. While enroute near the town of Friend NE the engine lost power at 2000 AGL. The engine remained running; however, would not procuce power above 1800RPM. The pilot was forced to land in a corn field on a pivot irrigation service road. Aircraft touched down and RH wing made contact with corn stalks causing the ac to rotate to the right approximately 270 degrees from its direction of travel. The airframe incurred substantial damage to the horizontal stabilzers, elevators, empennage, the right wing and right aileron from the aircraft turning around its vertical axis as it entered the corn. The nose landging gear fork was broken during the sharp right twisting motion causing the propeller to strike the ground. Some torsional damage to the area where the empennage attaches to the cabin was also noted.
