From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After installing a replacement heavier engine with higher rated horsepower, pilot neglects to perform weight and balance to determine if aircraft is within CG. Also aircraft stall speed with replacement engine is unknown. During approach to land at hwv on runway 15 aircraft aerodynamically stalled approximately 25 ft above runway falling to the paved runway surface nose first breaking off the left main landing gear and causing substantial structural damage to the fuselage.

Pilot has no hours of instruction or flight time in this aircraft prior to the day of this accident.
