From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 12, 2022, about 1901 pacific daylight time, an Aerostar, privacy data omitted sustained substantial damage when it landed gear up at the Scappoose Airport (spb) in Scappoose, OR. The commercial pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and uninjured. According to the pilot?s testimony, he departed the hillsboro airport (hio) on a five minute planned flight to spb. The weather was VFR with forecast winds of 9-16 knots. He crossed over the airport to enter the traffic pattern for runway 15. At the point where he was supposed to put the gear down, he noticed the wind sock favored runway 33. He executed a right 360 to join the final for runway 33. Just short of the numbers he heard the horn chirp and as he reduced power to land it sounded solid. By then the props were already striking the ground and the aircraft settled onto its belly and slid across the runway. It came to a stop on the left or eastern side of the runway. The pilot said he did not do the checklist and forgot to put the gear down.
