From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 25, 2022 - the remote pilot in command (certificate number 4686751) was training with a Dji mavic 2, enterprise advanced suas drone. The purpose of the training flight was to practice hand captures. The areas were the remote pilot flies for their work, does not always have a flat, steady area to land their flights. Protocols at the remote pilots place of employment require the participants to wear a helmet, glasses and gloves on both hands. The participant who was hand capturing the drone at the time did not have gloves on both of their hands, only the right hand was gloved which was her catching hand at the time of the occurrence, however, did have the other required personal, protective equipment. Once the suas drone was on approach for hand capture, the participant raised their hand to grab the suas drone. The participant did not have a firm grip on the suas drone and quickly raised their other hand (left) to support the unstable suas drone. While the other hand was being raised, the props of the quadcopter had not stopped, coming into contact with the participant’s left hand resulting in lacerations to their index finger and left thumb. A hospital visit resulted in sutures to the injured areas of the participant’s left hand.
