From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 27 July 2022 at approx 0920 local, an experimental ambuilt kit model SQ-2 was in a climbing left turn east of tustumena lake at about 4000' MSL based on reported location, when it lost power and impacted the ground at 60.165006 n, -150.392703 w. from pilot's written statement , "departed 04AA with a destination of bear bay and return. Along the way we were looking for caribou herds at the base of the kenai mountains. Spotted them and then initiated a climbing left turn so as to depart and head down canyon due to rising terrain. The engine started loosing power. I advanced the throttle and propellor levers to their forward stops but the engine continued to loose power. Just before getting the aircraft pointed down canyon the engine quit running. A down canyon forced landing occurred in a section of land made up of small gullies. These broke off both front landing gear causing the 35" bush wheels to impact the wing's lift struts bending at least one of them which caused at least one wing to fold upwards slightly. The propellor impacted the terrain at what appears to be near zero RPM as the composite propeller blades were snapped off instead of becoming shredded. The impact apparently caused my chest to hit the control stick as I [was injujred]. My passenger in the back seat was uninjured..."

As the FAA filed it
