What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The accident aircraft, an experimental amateur-built "tango 2" gyroplane, departed Melrose landing airport (FD22) for a local flight with two occupants on board. At approximately 10:05 local time, witnesses observed the aircraft in a vertical descent, impacting in a pasture 7.22 miles northwest of FD22. The aircraft was destroyed, and there was a post-crash fire. The two occupants sustained fatal injuries. One of the two main rotor blades was notably missing from the main wreckage location, but was subsequently located on 8/3/2022 in a wooded area, approximately 312 feet east north-east from the location of the main wreckage. The missing blade fractured and separated along a point located approximately 2 inches outside the end of the blade grip.
