From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Did all the landing check list prior to entering left down wind traffic for runway 11 except for landing gear being above gear down speed. Failed to compete the check list on final. Occupied with crosswind landing. Suggestion to prevent reoccurrence: double check three green lights on final. Will start training toward instrument rating when aircraft repaired.

Investigation: on reducing speed to below landing gear operating speed, the PIC was focused on the cross wind conditions and was distracted from normal gear down checklist procedure.

Root cause analysis: this accident resulted when the PIC failed to complete gear down checklist on final approach.

Corrective action: PIC corrected the deviation when he determined to receive additional instruction in checklist procedures, and to begin training toward his instrument rating again.

Inspector comments: I used counseling to regain safe operations. I am satisfied the pics corrective actions fully address the identified root cause and have reestablished safe operations. I recommend no further action.
