From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

None.

(6) Other comments:

None.

(7) Investigation:

The investigation revealed the balloon was blown into the dead tree after landing causing minimal damage to the balloon's fabric envelope. The most significant damage occurred during the local fire department's recovery of the balloon.

(8) Root cause analysis (rca):

The pilot's inability to control the balloon after ladning. Hot air balloons are subject to the winds with little to no pilot controllability.
