From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft crashed into a hangar next to the gravel crosswind runway. Multiple witnesses state that the pilot reported being in the downwind for the paved runway (018) prior to the accident. Witnesses are consistent in stating that they heard two or three sharp rises in RPM just prior to the crash and that the aircraft was in a right hand turn with the right wing low. Witnesses also state that the aircraft seemed to be going fast and likely would have had sufficient speed to gain altitude to avoid the tree and hangar. Aircraft contacted the top of a birch tree just prior to crasing into the hangar. Neighbors gained access to the hangar by removing a side door and removed the pilot from the aircraft.
