From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

on 08/31/2022 at approximately 2pm N707BL impacted a lawn mower at JNX.

The flight was operated as a 141 private lesson with instructor and student on board.

The airplane had landed and was traveling north on taxiway A.

Reviewing surveillance video footage it appeared that the mower had been clear of conflict and mowing an area of grass well away from taxiway A initially. Prior to the collision the mower transitioned across a taxiway and began mowing grass immediately adjacent to the taxiway and in the path in front of the airplane. The mower was subsequently struck from behind by the right wingtip.

Damage to the airplane is limited to a damaged wing tip. Damage to the mower appears to be limited to a paint scuff. No physical injuries occurred.

The instructor has been removed from flight status pending the outcome of any investigation.
