From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

CFI had previously received two hours of dual in this aircraft (total) from privacy data omitted with the intent of checking out the student pilot. September 6, 2022 at 1:24 p.m. CDT: privacy data omitted, VFR, departed the rochester (rst) airport, MN, flying to the red Wing (rgk) airport, WI for dual flight training to familiarize the student with this aircraft. Flight track show the aircraft doing air work around the red Wing area and eventually doing several left-hand traffic patterns to touch and go landings at red Wing. Information from the on-board garmin data card and flight tracking showed a tighter, slower approach pattern than previous ones on the last approaches. Aircraft crashed near the departure end of runway 9. Aircraft wreckage, location and ground markings are consistent with those of a stall spin ground impact.
