From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC elected to depart runway 31 with winds 140 at 05, desity altitude was calculated to be 1632' at the 962' elevation airport. PIC stated he rotated at 86 mph, established a positive rate of climb and retracted landing gear (aircraft has manual landing gear). Aircraft settled onto runway tail first and slid to a stop approximately 531' after tail strike. PIC stated that the engine lost power after gear retraction. Inspectors could not find evidence or reason for power loss. Witnesses stated the engine was running normally and the aircraft never got out of ground effect.

PIC stated he did weight and balance calculation and was just under gross weight. Iic did weight and balance based on weight and balance data found in hangar, there was not any in the aircraft, and the aircraft was approximately 100 pounds over maximum weight with an aft CG.

As the FAA filed it
