The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On October 09, 2022 at approximately 1617 local time, a Lake LA-4-200 amphibious aircraft on a VFR flight landed at wittman regional airport Oshkosh, WI. The aircraft was cleared by air traffic for runway 9. When the aircraft made contact with the hard runway surface, a scraping sound was heard by the pilot. The pilot noted the landing gear was not in the down position. The aircraft stopped on the centerline of the runway 9 landing on the keel and right wing float. The pilot exited the aircraft and notified the airport that the aircraft was sitting on runway 9. Only the pilot was on board the aircraft during the part 91 flight and no injuries were reported. The weather was visual flight rules conditions at the time.
The aircraft sustained minor damage to the centerline keel bottom skin and rivets, and minor damage to the right wing float bottom in the form of scrape marks consistent with the aircraft sliding to a stop on the hard surface of the runway. No other damage was noted. The pilot reported he did not check to see if he had a green landing gear indicator illuminated prior to landing. The pilot also stated after landing he did not have hydraulic pressure as indicated on the gauge. A test of the landing gear indications worked normally several times. A test of the hydraulic system pressure worked normally. This amphibious aircraft does not have a gear warning horn. A functional check of the landing gear system did not show any discrepancies. A review of the aircraft records was also performed with no discrepancies.
