From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft took off from runway 5. At approximately 500 ft AGL the PIC started to make left turn and at approximately 600 ft AGL PIC experienced loss of power. PIC immediately established glide speed and located a suitable landing area on a nearby highway. On landing aircraft struck several powerlines and on rollout there was a smoke from under engine cowling. Crew and passengers evacuated without injury and extinguished fire. Airframe and propellor sustained damage from wire strike and engine sustained damage from fire. Initial analysis and exterior inspection of engine could determine power loss. Probable cause and FAA non-compliance still undetermined.

As the FAA filed it
