From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Interviewed the pilot at his hanger, he stated his avionics started failing in flight over joe pool lake. He contacted ATC and informed them of the problem but did not declare an emergency. The pilot then stated he was flying visual and could not tell what his altitude was. He started his decent in to Grand Prairie airport and noticed he was too high and tried to reduce his height while trying to keep his plane level. He stated when he touched down onto the runway his landing gear struck the runway hard then after he taxied a ways his landing gear collapsed. Inspected the aircraft and found the main landing gear had collapsed from what appeared to be a very hard landing. Note this aircraft is of a fixed main landing gear type and does not retract. Found the nose gear to have some damage appeared to be mainly from when the main gear collapsed. Also found damage to the underside of the fuselage, propeller tips and engine cowlings. I asked the privacy data omitted if he could turn on the aircrafts instruments and he did. Noted that the instrument panel lights were not working. Checked the electronic flight instrument system and found it had many error messages. A volt's warning massage was being displayed with a transponder error message that was also being displayed.

As the FAA filed it

I ASKED THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IF HE COULD TURN ON THE AIRCRAFTS INSTRUMENTS AND HE DID.
