From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 02/07/2023, at approximately 1730, privacy data omitted, an EA-300, caught fire while taxing on the airport taxiway. The aircraft had just came out of a 1000 hour inspection by the aircraft dealership when they were performing high speed taxi to check the aircraft systems and performance after maintenance. The mechanic on board was waiting for traffic to land (while waiting on hold) on the taxiway, when he noticed that the aircraft was rotating to the right. The mechanic noted smoke coming from under the aircraft and saw the right brake caliper on the ground (broken). The mechanic shut down the aircraft and called for emergency services to his location. The aircraft was engulfed on fire and the aircraft was destroyed. There were no injuries to the mechanic.
