From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot conducted the flight for the purpose of maintaining currencey. After completing two successful water landings in a nearby lake the pilot returned to szt for landing. The pilot reported that there were several aircraft in the traffic pattern along with a congested CTAF frequency. The pilot delayed the landing gear extension in order to better sequence with the faster flying aircraft in the traffic pattern. The pilot muted the landing gear warning horn as it impeaded the pilot's ability to hear and respond to the traffic calls on the CTAF. The pilot became distracted and failed to extend the landing gear prior to landing which resulted in minor damage to the keel of the floats. The aircraft was lifted up by four people and placed on chocks to enable the landing gear to be lowered. The pilot taxied the aircraft under it's own power to the owner's hangar.

As the FAA filed it
