From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Mesquite, TX (hqz): privacy data omitted, BE9L, landed runway 36, left main tire detached from aircraft while turning onto taxiway "d". POB: 2, injuries: none, damage: extent unknown. 03/19/2023 1442Z -------

Pilot states that previous landing/taxi on same day was normal, no noise or indication of trouble. When pilot turned aircraft from runway onto taxi way he believed he was experiencing a flat tire due to the aircraft felt "wobbly". Aircraft slowed, wheel departed and the aircraft immediately stopped on taxiway, resting on left main axle and brake assy.--------------------

Wheel was recovered in multiple pieces. The inner section, housing the wheel bearings was torn apart, while the outboard section was intact and tire was still mounted/intact. The inboard races for the wheel bearing were left on the axle along with a portion of one bearing cage. The remainder of the bearings were missing or shredded. Grease and metal flakes were covering the axle. Airport manager reports workers recovered FOD from taxi way, small pieces, nothing they could identify. Axle nut was still in place with cotter pin installed. Damage limited to tire, wheel, wheel bearings, brake housing, and axle.
