What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot was landing on runway 15 at kfci with a crosswind component (he remembered 210 at 9 gusting 15 or so, and the historical METAR was substantially the same). Upon touchdown, the right tire blew out. Pilot said that the plane “yanked” to the right very hard, and he applied full left rudder, but the plane departed the runway anyway, off the right side. The right wingtip struck and destroyed the frangible “3” (3,000 foot remaining) runway sign. The impact was on the right wing, near the tip tank. The vortex generator was crushed, and the right tire was split.
