From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot departed from David Jay Perry Airport (1K4) Goldsby, Oklahoma and approximately 10 seconds after becoming airborne, the aircraft engine began to violently backfire numerous times accompanied by a substantial loss of engine power. At this point and at approximately 200-300 AGL, the pilot decided the best plan of action was to immediately return to the airport and land. He was able to make it back to runway 13 but under limited engine power. Due to the poor engine performance, he landed hard and the aircraft veered off to the left and departed the runway and flipped over. The pilot was able to quickly egress the aircraft and sustained only minor cuts/injuries from the broken canopy plexiglas. The aircraft incurred substantial damage as a result of the accident with major damage to the left wing, vertical tail, engine firewall, and nose landing gear. Accident documented in sas under activity SW15202302527.
