From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft cgxgs (canadian registered) departed Santa maria, CA (ksmx) with final destination of winslow-lindbergh, AZ (kinw). Pilot diverted to Santa Barbara (ksba) to wait for more favorable weather. Upon touchdown at ksba, air traffic control (ATC) advises pilot of flames or smoke coming from aircraft. The pilot exited runway at taxiway c, powered down aircraft and began addressing the fire with a hand-held fire extinguisher. Ultimately the fire damaged the interior and the underside of the aircraft. The damge to the underside of aircraft was substantial.
