From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Prior to the flight, the privacy data omittedoperator pre-checked the aircraft to include sumping the fuel from each wing. He then flew in the pattern 3 times without incident. On the 4th departure, at a 090 heading approximatlely 1200 AGL, the engine "coughed", then at about 1300, coughed again. The SIC then suggested to turn back to the airport. After turning back, the engine failed. Relaizing the aircraft could not make it back to the airport the airmen searched for a place to land the aircraft. A call to kpbf went out announcing the emergency and proceeded with landing configuration for the rice field at a 360 heading. After initial touchdown, the plane struck a small row. It turned in a half- circle, knocking off the right wheel, and rested in an upright position @ approximately 090 heading.
