From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student pilot (PIC) was on an initial solo flight at the kcfe airport and remained in the traffic pattern for runway 18. Winds during the flight were approximately 210° @ 5 KTS. During the flight, the PIC reduced power to 1700 RPM, applied carb heat, selected the first notch of flaps and targeted 90 KIAS. On base leg, the PIC selected the second notch of flaps and targeted 80 KIAS. Once on final, the PIC targeted 76 KIAS. During the round out and flare, the PIC noted that the aircraft was left of centerline and yawed left. The PIC attempted to correct by using brakes. During the attempt to correct the loss of directional control, the aircraft exited to the left side of the runway striking a runway light with the right flap. The aircraft had no other damage and there were no injuries.
