From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Flight from south valley, ut to lovelock, NV. During cruise, the engine suddenly lost power. Pilot utilized checklist and began to check fuel primer settings and carburetor heat to attempt to regain engine power, but that was ineffective and the engine failed. The pilot then tried to restart the aircraft; the propeller turned over when the engine starter cranked, but the engine would not start. Pilot made an emergency landing in an open desert valley and a plb was activated for rescue. An emergency was not declared with ATC and the ELT never activated.

NTSB is conducting further investigation. Amendments to this -23 will be made once NTSB provides their findings.
