From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 18, 2023, at 20:40 eastern daylight time (EDT), a 1946 Ercoupe 415 aircraft, privacy data omitted, operated by a private pilot for personal use received minor damage when its propeller, and lower nose cowling struck a deer while on rollout after landing at a private airfield named ducks pasture (41.79301N/85.98819W) in Edwardsburg, Michigan.

Visual meteorological conditions with 1O miles of visibility prevailed at time of incident. Weather conditions were hazy, 74 degrees, with a dew point of 54, and calm winds.

According to the pilot the aircraft was landing south on a 2500' private airstrip when a deer ran from west ttpo east in front of the aircraft during rollout following a landing. The collision occurred at aproxiamtely 25 knots. The deer hit the proller of the idiling engine, lower engine cowl, and the nose lading gear. The engine stopped as a result of the proppeler strike. The lower cowl was dented and cracked from the impact. There was no deceleration felt from the collision, just the sound of a thump as the deer made contact. No other damaged was observed.
