From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft was witnessed on the ramp with the operator prior to taxi. The pilot started his engine and started to taxi, and with heavy smoke comming from the engine. He then stopped before turning onto the paralell taxiway to runway 23 there was no smoke at this time. The pilot started again and stopped again about 1/4 down and the engine stopped. The pilot started the engine and continued the taxi. He turned to enter runway 23 and the pilot radioed that he was taking off runway 23 and heading west. The pilot took off runway 23 with smoke trailing behind but appeared to be a normal take-off. The pilot turned left and about a minute later radioed he wanted to fly straight back to 23.
