From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Mishap aircraft took off on July 20, 2023, with 2 POB from eko in Elko, NV. The main runway 24 was closed due to painting being conducted by Elko city maintenance. Pilot had done all his preflight data for a takeoff on the 7,200 foot runway 24. He did not check the NOTAMS to see that runway 24 was closed. The pilot was taxiing the aircraft to the runway 24 run up area when he was notified that runway 24 was closed and that he could use runway 30 which is 2,871 feet. The pilot decided to take runway 30 and expected a takeoff speed of 65-70 knots. On the takeoff roll he reached 60 knots and realized he was running out of runway. He failed to abort the takeoff and pulled back on the yolk but did not get any altitude and struck an eight foot fence at the end of the runway and stopped roughly 20 feet past the fence. Pilot and passenger survived and called for local emergnecy rescue. Aircraft suffered substantial damage.
