From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

English translation :

On radar approach to kewr ILS 04R, on LOC interception heading, controller requests descent from 4000FT to 3000 ft. passing 3500 ft, he requests immediate stabilization at 3500 ft. the pf takes the following action:

"Push vs to level off". At the same time, the controller asks to climb to 4000 ft.

The pf displays 4000 ft on the fma and notices traffic at 01H 300FT high. The climb order being he disconnects the ap to avoid climbing to 4000FT. He then engages the ap/fd TCAS with the resolution advisory ra "descend now". The pm announces on the radio "TCAS ra". The pf immediately executes

Ra order and stabilizes at 3200 ft, altitude held until LOC interception. Once "clear of conflict" without further comment, ATC clears us to ILS 04R. The minimum altitude difference reported between our aircraft and the conflicting aircraft on TCAS was 200 ft.

Once landed, we contacted ATC for information on the aircraft and explanations of the sequence.

The aircraft was registration privacy data omitted, type bonanza flying VFR from schenectady to old bridge.

The approach controller reports the fault to VFR control.
