From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After completing privacy data omitted aircraft annual condition and maintenance inspection, the pilot took off from U56 RUNWAY19 at approximately 1825 local time on 8/8/2023. As the aircraft climbed to an approximate altitude of 100'-150' AGL, the aircraft engine made what a witness reported as a miss or sputtering sound. After the engine sputter, the pilot made a left hand 180 degree turn towards the taxiway. At approximately 30-40' AGL the left wing struck the taxiway and as a result, the aircraft entered an abrupt rotational spin to the right and come to rest east of the taxiway. A post crash fire occured where the pilot sustained burns to his arms and legs and injuy to his head resulting in a loss of memory of the accident after takeoff.
