What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Arrived on scene 08/08/2023 at approx 1130L. Took a statement from the pilot who was not injured. He stated "sequence of events and time line for incident/ accident that happened on this date, August 8, 2023, at approximately 0930 hours, (central time). Arrived at lancaster air port (lnc) at approximately 0730 hours. Opened my hanger, did a preflight inspection, was low in fuel and added 1 quart of oil. Pulled the plane out, completed my walk around, closed the hanger. Started the plane and taxied it to the self-serve fuel tanks near the main terminal. Filled both tanks to 21 gallons each or to 42 gallons total. Restarted the plane and taxied to the north end for my run up. 2. Did my run up and all was in the green. My departure time was approximately 0855 hours. The winds were out of the south and were light and variable atapproximately 3 knots. Called my departure intentions and notified possible traffic that I would be east bound after take-off on runway 13. Take off was normal and reaching l 000 feet I started my left turn out I took up a easterly heading to go around mesquite's air space then turn northerly toward mckinney (tki). I climbed to 3500 feet. When I cleared addison's airspace I began my left turn toward 52F or north west regional. At about 15 miles I startedmonitoring 122.9 (UNICOM) for north west regional and all traffic was landing and taking off on runway 17. At about this time I started my descent and reported my location and intentions of landing 52F. All incoming traffic anddeparting traffic were still using runway 17. At about 9 miles from 52F iannounced that I would be entering left traffic landing full stop on runway 17 at 52F. I entered left down-wind at mid field and announced landing full stoprunway 17. At this time another plane announced he was west bound for 52F to cross over midfield to land full stop at 52F. His distance was such that his entering the traffic pattern would be no factor. 3. I turned down wind then base and then final. On down-wind I put the flaps full down and prepared the air craft for landing. When I leveled off on final, I realized that 1 was drifting to the right, which indicating an east-to-west crosswind component. I compensated by slipping to the left or to the east. I was indicating about 73 KTS, and with the cross wind I decided that I would do a 3-point landing. At touch down I had a problem slowing the plane down, then got a gust (east to west) that pushed the nose to the left. With that gust (and with a northerly component) made it to late to add power to take off. At this time I was then trying to keep the wings level and "not" hit an auto or another plane that was by the east side of the runway near the hangers (#6 to #8) by the east side taxi way/road. Some where about now I hit the brakes and shoved the stick forward to not hit either. The plane hit on its nose and stopped. I turned the fuel off and the master switch off, then pulled my canopy back and held it so until help got there to assist me in getting out of the plane. Other than a scratch on my right arm by my elbow I was not injured. When I got out of the plane, the guy that helped me out said that I was leaking fuel from the right wing tank, so we pulled the tail down, which reduced the leakage. We then called to report the incident." The damages to the aircraft were significant and included deformation of the fueslage and wings. The prop was struck under power and fuel was leaking." Damage to the aircraft was dertermined to be significant. The fueslage frame was cracked and bent, prop had a strike and wing structure was seperating from the fueslage.

As the FAA filed it
