From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 11,2023 at approximately 09:00AM a certified flight instructor and a passenger’s first flight at the controls during a takeoff roll attempted to take off at Cook Airfield (K50) out of rose hill, Kansas. The passenger conducted the attempted takeoff. After the application of the power the aircraft started to trend towards the left of the runway at which time the flight instructor called out right rudder. The passenger had frozen on the rudder petals making the flight instructor unable to implement the correction. The aircraft departed the runway onto the grass located in the safety area. The flight instructor proceeded to pull the yoke aft to prevent a nose strike. The prop struck the ground. The aircraft continued into a pile of rocks. The flight instructor pulled out the mixture and came to a stop.
